The tradition of glass production

Glass production has a very rich and long tradition in the Czech Republic. Already in the second millennium AD, records of glass production has been known and historically preserved. The glass works were in border regions where there was enough wood to heat the glass melting furnaces and for the potash production. The glass making continued to develop, and the glass works and glass masters grew. Czech Art Glass was presented at all world exhibitions around the world. The development of hand made glass production over the past millennium has undergone a number of changes and copied changes in art styles over the course of the millennium. The world’s traditional glass, hand-blown and hand shaped glass, with an emphasis on the traditional technology and art of glass masters, is still being valued worldwide.

Glass products have become a very popular enrichment of private collections of art and art galleries. Also utility glass for daily use was received very positively in households across Europe and overseas.

The inspiration for the production of Art Nouveau glass was the creation of a glass factory in the Klášterský mlýn, Lötz Glass works in Šumava. At that time, glass of world-class quality and popularity was produced at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Czech glass has gained worldwide reputation in the EXPO exhibitions from the 19th century to the present.

Glass Studio Müller in Holice

Glass master Igor Müller (1969) was born in Nové Město na Moravě. He graduated from the Secondary Art and Industrial School of Glass in Železný Brod – Glass maker – specialization in hut hand make glass processing. Under the guidance of academic sculptor Pavel Ježek and glass master Stanislav Šimůnek, he gained the skills and skills of the glass master. He further developed his art skills in several glass works in Bohemia and Moravia. Between 1994 and 1997, he was engaged in the US in the state of Vermont, USA – Simon Pearce Glass Company.

After returning to Bohemia he founded his own glass works in 1998 – Glass Studio Müller, Holice in Bohemia, Czech Republic. Igor Müller is one of the best glass makers in the Czech Republic today. The glass works produce replicas of Art Nouveau and Renaissance glass, own artwork and cooperate with artists and designers to produce art glass according to their designs. Glass Studio Müller also produces art glass to order. It retains in its production of traditional technologies and best practices.
